Claremont Neighborhood - Oakland & Berkeley, California

Roughly defined as the area between Highway 24, Tilden Regional Park, Ashby Avenue, and Telegraph Avenue, Claremont is a cozy residential area that sees very little of the hustle-and-bustle of the metropolitan Bay Area, and yet is located just minutes from anywhere. Claremont straddles the Oakland-Berkeley border.

The Claremont neighborhood itself features a number of attractions within walking distance, including Rick & Ann’s famous breakfast diner, Peet’s Coffee, the Claremont Hotel, both a Safeway and a local mom-and-pop supermarket, flower shops, assorted restaurants (including Noah’s Bagels and Grasshopper). It’s also right in between the Elmwood shops and restaurants of Berkeley and their counterparts in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, with the advantage of being within walking distance to Rockridge BART.

Claremont is home to The Uplands mini-neighborhood, which contains some of the most desirable homes in all of the East Bay.
